Doors of Tin Hau Temple
Front Door

The front door is the usual way for people to enter the temple. On the two wings of the door are the Menshen, who are the Chinese door god. They are Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Chinese people believe that Menshen can protect them from the evil spirits and keep them safe.
Circular Portals

There was originally a garden between two structures of the Tin Hau temple. To enlarge the temple and protect it from rainfall, people had added the roof for the middle part of the Tin Hau temple while renewing the temple in 1980s. Therefore, the circular portals at the side were actually parts of the garden. It is built by rock and resisted from wet and rainfall. These circular portals are now become the arc door connecting the temple and the two small courtyards.
Side Door

The side door is the entrances of the Miaozhu (廟祝). It allows the Miaozhu to enter and leave the temple without blocking the votaries to visit and worship Tin Hau.
At the end of the day, the Miaozhu would close the front door and leave at the side door. Therefore, the door lock is placed at the outside of the door.
