Who built Causeway Bay Tin Hau Temple?
The Tai (戴) clan.
When and why did the Tai clan build Tin Hau Temple?
It was being built at the early 18th century but in which year is uncertain.
From the legend, it says that the Tai Clan found a stone on the shore which is similar to an incense burner(紅香爐). They believe that it was being delievered by the Tin Hau. They built a small shrine for keeping it. The shine became popular then and they raised funds to build a temple at the same place.

Who is Tin Hau (天后)?

Tin Hau (天后) who is also called Matsu (Mother–Ancestor) or Tien Hou was a native of Fujian Province; and, its literal meaning was the Queen of Heaven. She was the Goddess of Sea (Chinese Temple Committee, 2016).
