"Supernatural work" on Temple

Supernatural work is a form of Chinese Opera and it's main propose is to celebrate the birth of god and large traditional festivals. They are usually performing Chinese myths or famous stories. The theme is usually about Loyalty, Righteousness, Ren, and filial, the four most important traditional Chinese values. "Lord of Six States" and "Tianfei Child" are two common supernatural works played in Hong Kong.


Supernatural work is also an important element in the Causeway Bay Tin Hau Temple. The characters of the supernatural work is represented by clay sculptures (陶瓷人物) and they are built on the middle of the main ridge on the roof.

The stories are usually divided into scenes.


Not only is the propose of supernatural work enlightening the public, but also recognizing the wishes and outlooks of the people.
